Sustainability and CSR

Plus Egypt is committed to contribute positive economic, social, and environmental impact on all Egypt's local communities throughout our work.

We provide Sustainable Community Development (SCD) solution to integrate economic, social and environmental objectives into our community development. SCD is based on a consideration of the relationship between economic factors and other community elements such as housing, education, the natural environment, health, accessibility and the arts. SCD has emerged as a compelling alternative to conventional approaches to development: a participatory, holistic and inclusive process that leads to positive, concrete changes in communities by creating employment, reducing poverty, restoring the health of the natural environment, stabilizing local economies, and increasing community control. We work with local communities, NGOs, community organizations. We provide support in planning, implementation of schemes, provide technical training and build & develop capacities.

We are in a perfect position to help our local communities. Our support may take a variety of forms whether it be hiring local staff, buying commodities from local suppliers, using local services and facilities, help in local products marketing, promote fair trade principles, encourage sustainable development and biodiversity conservation efforts, supporting regional schools or becoming involved in local initiatives. It may also be promoting Egypt's rich natural and cultural heritage and supporting the local people who have a very strong traditional and spiritual connection to the area.

Generally, we:

  • Provide support to private sector companies to design and operate their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability programs
  • Support local communities to market their handmade products following fair-trade principles by linking them to local, national and international customers
  • Contribute to local community organisations and become involved in sustainable use, development and biodiversity conservation activities
  • Use local products (for example, food), services (for example, maintenance and cleaning) and facilities (for example, workshops and slipways
  • Hire staff from local communities
  • Ensure that scarce community resources (for example, water) are used sparingly
  • Be proactive in reporting incidents (such as pollution and suspected illegal activity).
  • Provide information sessions to the community (for example, school talks) and take up ideas and products generated in local community
